About the Mindful Self-Compassion program
What is it?
The Mindful Self-Compassion program (or MSC) is an evidence-based program developed by Drs. Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer to help you grow a kinder relationship with yourself and develop the skills necessary to identify your needs and take action towards your life goals. Over 8 weeks (plus one silent retreat session), you will experience the power of mindfulness and self-compassion as you learn to incorporate this invaluable skill into your own life and reframe what resilience looks like.
What will I learn?
-
Build resilience by means of mindfulness and self-compassion
-
Be kinder to yourself (and others)
-
Identify your values and take action accordingly (eg. setting boundaries)
-
Build the right resources for you and your specific circumstances
-
Deal with difficult emotions and relationships with awareness and kindness
-
Re-learn to pay attention to the positive things in your life
Who are the teachers
We are Hans and Fran and we are trained MSC teachers. Hans is also trained as an experiential therapist and as a mindfulness teacher, whereas Fran has a background in developmental psychology. We both first took part to the MSC program as participants. After seeing for ourselves the benefits of integrating mindful self-compassion into our lives, we independently decided to teach the program. We trained at the same MSC Teacher Training Program in the Netherlands led by Christopher Germer (co-founder of the MSC program) and Mila de Koning (founder of the Self-Compassion Academie: https://selfcompassionacademy.com/). We connected through our common goal of teaching more people about these life-changing skills and ultimately contribute to create a kinder, more compassionate world.
